EVENT: Federal Court - Insurance List for Short Matters: CGU v Blakeley

Our distinguished guest The Honourable Chief Justice Allsop AO will discuss the Federal Court’s commitment to providing commercial dispute mechanisms for the insurance community in a flexible, efficient and cost-effective manner through the newly established Insurance List for Short Matters as part of the National Court Framework reforms.

Ms Caroline Kenny QC and Ms Nicole Wearne will discuss the potentially wide ranging implications of CGU v Blakeley on third party insurers’ liability exposure to claimants seeking declaratory relief under policies of insurance said to involve a ‘justiciable controversy’ between the non-insured claimant and resistant third party insurer.

The seminar will be chaired by members of the AILA Committee (Victorian Branch) Mr John Simpson, Barrister of the Victorian Bar and Ms Lauren Ritchie, Senior Associate of Norton Rose Fulbright.
