How to View
AILA uses GoToWebinar for presentations. You can view the webinar online through laptop/PC, tablet or smartphone. You do not need software to view the webinar, just an internet connection through a web browser such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox.
Access & Links
After you have purchased tickets to the event, you will receive up to three emails with the access link (usually 5 days prior, 24 hours prior and 1-hour prior). Links will ONLY be sent to the registered delegates email address. The access link is unique to the address and cannot be shared.

Speaker Information

GARETH HORNE
Gareth is an experienced commercial litigator, admitted in Australia and New Zealand, specialising in financial lines insurance, first party property and business interruption, contract works, reinsurance and commercial litigation.
Within the financial lines and general litigation practices, Gareth has acted in defence of claims against directors and officers and professionals. This includes acting as defence and coverage counsel in class actions, insolvency claims, negligence claims, Australian Consumer Law and contract claims, as well as public inquiries and Royal Commissions.
Gareth's first party property and business interruption experience includes policy drafting (ISR and cyber BI), working on claims in the mining, commercial property, manufacturing and energy sectors and catastrophe insurance and reinsurance claims arising from major catastrophes including earthquakes, bushfires and windstorms. Gareth has experience in dealing with captive insurers, catastrophe pools and treaty and facultative reinsurance programmes, and also frequently acts in subrogated recovery claims and litigation against third party wrongdoers.
CHRISTOPHER SMITH
Chris has acted for financial lines insurers for more than 16 years, principally in the areas of directors and officers and professional indemnity insurance.
Chris provides coverage advice to insurers in claims against directors and officers and professional negligence claims and acts as monitoring counsel in large and complex litigation. Chris also has extensive experience defending litigated claims brought against a range of professionals.
In his directors and officers defence practice, Chris acts for directors, c-suite executives, managers and a variety of professionals in a wide range of scenarios including claims by investors, shareholders, creditors, liquidators, receivers and investigations by corporate regulators. Many of these cases arise from large scale high profile corporate collapses including former ASX listed public companies. The subject matter is broad and varied but most often involves alleged breaches of directors duties, misleading or deceptive conduct, insolvent trading, regulatory breaches and breaches of commercial contracts.
