Strategies, tips and traps
The expert panel will focus on how importers, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers - together with their insurers, brokers and risk managers - can best respond to the recent Australia wide concerns for the health and safety of persons exposed to injury, loss or damage from mass produced unsafe products, many of which originate from foreign manufacturers. Discussion will include:
- Legal risk management to minimise liability exposure to claims for defective component products
- Practical tips for manufacturers/suppliers to limit their exposure to such claims, including compliance with Industry Codes of Practice and applicable standards
- Underwriting and claims handling initiatives to better protect an insured’s policy coverage against defective component product based events and occurrences
- ‘Best practice’ adopted by insurance risk managers to reduce the potential liability risks for manufacturers/suppliers arising from defective component related claims
