Mark Kenney, Katherine Hayes and Allison Haworth have joined Brisbane firm Carter Newell.

Mark joins the construction & engineering team as a special counsel, bringing more than 12 years’ experience in construction, infrastructure and resources. His career includes working at an international firm and in an in-house capacity.

Senior associate Katherine Hayes joins the firm’s financial lines team. She has more than 10 years’ post-admission experience in insurance, commercial litigation and dispute resolution. 

She has spent several years in a top-tier firm, and was previously assistant in-house legal counsel for Spectrum Syndicate Management in London.

Allison Haworth joins the property & injury liability team as an associate. Her experience extends to insurance, dispute resolution and risk management for insurers, brokers and self-insureds.  She was previously with a top-tier firm and, before that, was a senior associate at a top 500 firm in the UK.

On the fifth anniversary of Gilchrist Connell’s launch in 2008, it has promoted Steve Vrtkovski to special counsel in Sydney.

He is the Sydney office’s second special counsel, joining Clare Branch who began at Gilchrist Connell in December 2012. Steve was formerly a senior associate and has been with the firm since day one. As an insurance lawyer and litigator, he has worked in the insurance and corporate risk groups of large international and boutique insurance law firms.

Gilchrist Connell has also appointed Anita Biswas a senior associate in its Adelaide office.

Since Gilchrist Connell began it has expanded from four to 10 partners and opened a third office in Perth.
