by Nicole Sosnowski, KT Journalism

Themed Wide Exposure, Safe Harbour, the 2013 AILA National Conference in Sydney on September 17-20 will be a memorable event.

Registrations are now open, so book before the early bird special closes on July 12.

The program has been created to appeal to both insurance industry professionals and legal enthusiasts. Keynote speakers include NSW Supreme Court Chief Justice Tom Bathurst; National Insurance Brokers’ Association CEO Dallas Booth; and Zurich General Insurance CEO Daniel Fogarty.

Plenary session topics include insurance trends in Asia; claims and circumstances; consequential loss; network security and privacy; the Insurance Contracts Act; reinsurance; and emerging risks.

Conference sessions will be at the heritage venue Doltone House at Jones Bay Wharf. It is a spectacular waterfront location on the Sydney Harbour foreshore, with views of the Harbour Bridge, the city skyline and the Darling Harbour precinct. The gala dinner will be at Doltone House Hyde Park, in the city’s heart. The welcome reception is at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

AILA 2013 conference chair John Edmond said the organising committee was dedicated to providing a contemporary and dynamic feel to the conference, with exciting social events, networking opportunities, and a high-quality program in a spectacular setting. "It is a pleasure to have this event back in Sydney and it is our intention to make it a first-class experience for all delegates both professionally and socially."

Mr Edmond said the committee had introduced differential pricing to make the event more affordable for the insurance industry, with the cost lower than last year.

A wide range of accommodation has been reserved for delegates and guests at highly competitive rates. For more information, visit safeharbour2013.com
