Australia hosts international insurance law congress

AILA will host the international insurance law association AIDA XVI World Insurance Congress on 30 August – 1 September 2023 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Australia has hosted the prestigious event, which is held every four years, only once before, in Sydney in 1994.

Ticketing has now opened for the World Insurance Congress (WICA2023) with discounted early bird offers available.

Congress chair and AILA’s immediate past president Angus Kench says the congress is a unique opportunity to draw international visitors from AIDA’s global chapters to Australia.

“Attendees will learn from Australian and international experts, network with like-minded professionals from around the world, and contribute to a congress with an objective of driving outcomes for the global insurance industry,” he said.

The congress theme is ‘Insurance upside down’ and the logo depicts Australia being at the top of the globe instead of ‘down under’.

The event starts with presentations from each of AIDA’s 12 working parties that closely examine specific insurance issues from global and regional perspectives.

Panelists and expert speakers will then present sessions directed at four key themes – climate, conflict, ESG and careers (innovations in insurance).

The speakers’ program is constantly being updated as industry experts from around the globe sign on to speak. The latest version is at www.wica2023.com.

Disruption, innovation, sustainability, affordability, collaboration and emerging and mature markets are among the topics that will be woven into the key themes at the AIDA XVI World Insurance Congress.

WICA2023 will include plenty of networking and social opportunities. After the AIDA working party sessions on Wednesday 30 August, there will be the conference opening and welcome drinks.

Thursday night 1 September is a gala dinner.
