Adelaide lawyer Julie Kinnear has been awardeded the 2017 AILA life membership.

Julie, a Partner at Sparke Helmore, Adelaide, is the immediate past chair of AILA’s South Australian chapter.

She is the chapter’s longest-serving committee member and was secretary for many years before completing a three-year term as SA president. In 2016, she chaired the national conference organising committee.

Presenting life membership to Ms Kinnear at the SA chapter’s annual general meeting in Adelaide on 7 December, SA board member Anthony Hillary, on behalf of AILA President Angus Kench, said Ms Kinnear, and Sparke Helmore, contributed significantly to AILA’s development in SA.

Julie is a highly experienced professional indemnity lawyer. In 2012, she was named Adelaide’s Insurance Lawyer of the Year in the Australian Financial Review’s best lawyers list.
She represents insured professionals and organisations defending negligence claims and works with insurers on policy coverage advice and dispute resolution. Ms Kinnear advises corporate entities on insurance and indemnity clauses in contracts.
She acts for Lloyd's syndicates, overseas and Australian insurers, claims managers, and insured organisations that manage claims within their deductible levels.
Before joining Sparke Helmore, Julie was lead partner in an commercial law firm’s professional indemnity practice and she has been professional lines claims manager for a major broker.
