EVENT: Workplace Injuries in an Ageing Workforce, How Do We Respond?

Description

Australia has an ageing population and therefore an ageing workforce, which is relevant for workers compensation schemes because older workers tend to take longer to recover from workplace injuries and return to work.

Knowing the importance of early intervention in injury management, we will discuss:

• The response to the existence of comorbidity
• The critical thought regarding the employer’s willingness and tolerance to accommodate a return to work and
• The ability to identify psychosocial flags and risk factors for delayed recovery during initial contact with stakeholders.

The findings highlight some areas of injury management that may require further consideration as we continue to face the challenges and opportunities linked with an ageing workforce.
